He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira and Flora (Thorne); his granddaughter Carissa Black; and his siblings, Jim Lawrence, Gerry Lawrence, Leighton Black, Chester Black, Donald Black, Hazel Crawford (Ian) of Calgary and Gloria Steeves of Salisbury.

He is survived by: his wife Erma (Noiles); his children, Pat Cormier (Henry) of Sackville, NB, Robert (Diane) of Shubenacadie, NS and David (Terri) of Point de Bute, NB.; his grandchildren, Tracy of Sackville, Alison (Ben Hardy) of Iqaluit, NU, Shane Cormier of Calgary, AB, Jason Goodwin (Dorie) of Calgary, AB, Tristan Black (Christin) of Wheaton Settlement, NB, Brandon Black (Joline) of Riverview, NB and Braedon Black (Janice) of Whitehorse, Yukon; his great grandchildren, Connor Melanson of Sackville, Skylar Black, Shamus, Kira Black of Whitehorse, Adam and Hilary of Riverview; his stepgranddaughter Crystal Brant (Rauly) of Shubenacadie, NS; his sisters, Joan Tait (Ron) of Salisbury and Trena Jones (Vernon); and also Mindy of Riverview. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 5th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Main Street Baptist Church (20 Main St, Sackville, NB E4L4A5). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 5th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
