He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Burgess and Irene Burgess (Dube); and his siblings, Gerald, Lee, Freda and Frances.

He is survived by: his uncle Junior'; and his niece Leah Mackay (Graeme). He is also survived by four grandnieces and a grandnephew.
