He was predeceased by: his parents, Carrie Coates and Philip Coates; his grandparents, Harry, Elizabeth Coates and Jessie Pederson; his children, Jeff Webb and Laurie Coates; his grandchildren, Jillian Jewer and Christoper Pomroy; and the mothers of children, Louise Coates and Rita Coates.
He is survived by: his close friend Carol Paquin; his brother Paul Coates (Janice); his children, Joanne Jewer (Arch), Janette Pomroy (Tony), Jennifer Coates (Midge Cheeke) of Cambridge, ON, Adam Coates of Moncton, Rob Daniels (Candace) of Naples and Maine; his daughter-in-law Sherry Wood (Bruce) of Upper Tantallon, NS; and his stepchildren, Rachelle Paquin-Harvey (Luc Bourgeois) of Halifax, NS and Jean Marc Paquin (Jo-Annie Paré) of St Georges, QC. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 5 step-grandchildren.
