He was predeceased by: his parents, André Johnson and Domithilide (Richard); his siblings, Thérèse, Madeline and Leo-Paul; and his significant other Viola Chevarie.

He is survived by: his girlfriend Lorraine Chevarie of Richibucto; his children, Gloria Chevarie (Lucien) of Kent Lake, Albert Chevarie (Geneva) of Kent Lake, Arthur Chevarie (Jocelyn) of Rogersville, Donald Chevarie (Brenda) of Kent Lake, Gerald Chevarie of Richibucto and Daniel Chevarie (Irene) of Dieppe; his siblings, Rose-May Gallant (late Vincent) of St. Louis, Yvette LeBlanc (late Celime) of Rexton, Lorenzo Johnson (Lianne) of Shediac, Joe Johnson (Pierrette) of Saint John, Emile Johnson (late Jeannette) of Richibucto and Jean-Baptiste Johnson (Linda) of St. Charles; and his siblings-in-law, Annette Johnson and Eric Thibodeau. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
