He was predeceased by: his parents, Ella Doherty and Leaman Doherty; his parents-in-law, Laura and Hibbert Stuart; and his sister-in-law Lynn Boyle.

He is survived by: his siblings, Brian Doherty (Frank De Lorey) and Martha; his brother-in-law David Nutbrown; his close friend Walter Taylor; and his nephews, David and Doug Boyle.
