He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawson Benjamin and Dorothy Benjamin (Banks); and his brothers, Keith, Larry and Bruce.

He is survived by: his common-law partner Margaret Short; his children, Wanda Hill (Paul) of Scarborough, ON, Dwayne Benjamin of Cap-Pele, NB and Douglas Benjamin of Brampton, ON; the mother of his children Marie-Louise Benjamin; his granddaughters, Brandy (Tom) of Churchill, ON, Tammy (Clinton) of Rockwood, ON and Cindy (Paul) of Calgary, AB; his great grandchildren, Leyah, Liam and Chase; his extended family, Tammy Allen (Larry) of Upper Cape, NB, David Short (Tina) of Victoria, BC and Christopher Short (Kevin); and his siblings, Charles (Marie) of New Glasgow, NS and Elizabeth "Betty" (Peter) of Eastern Passage, NS. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
