He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Hawthorne and Dorothy Hawthorne (Holmes); and his siblings, Harry, Dean, Betty (Walter) and Ivy (Kemis).
He is survived by: his wife Linda; his children, Dennis Hawthorne (Melanie) of Picadilly, Ronnie Hawthorne (Stephanie) of Salisbury, Robert "Chopper" Hawthorne (Dawne) of Sussex and Cheryl Gilbert (Ferrell) of Sussex Corner; his stepchildren, Thomas Hayley (Ruthann) of Picadilly, Tina Rice (Peter) of Saint John and Crystal Rice of Picadilly; his siblings, Herman Hawthorne (Rena) of Penobsquis, George Hawthorne (Beverly) of Sussex and Louise Stanwix (Paul) of Sussex; and his siblings-in-law, Dale Hawthorne, Wayne Watson (Susan) and Weyman Watson (Trisha). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
