He was predeceased by: his parents, Owen E. Gilmore and Edna Jean Gilmore (Saunders); the mother of his children Marilyn Gilmore (Lounsbury); his sisters, Joyce (Doug Rice) and Clara (Bill Allen); and his sister-in-law Doris Gilmore.

He is survived by: his children, Esther Gagnon of Calgary, Elaine Gilmore of Intervale, Mark Gilmore (Tracy) of Petitcodiac, Ellen Gilmore (Shayne) of Calgary, Marsha McQuinn (Sean) of Killams Mills and Carol Brown Penney (Terry); his grandchildren, Dominique, Matt, Chris, Kayla, Kevin, Bailey, Shae and Wyatt; and his siblings, Sterling of Elgin and Gertrude-Jean Whittier (Alfie) of Sherbrooke, Quebec..
