He was predeceased by: his parent Sterling Cowie; and his siblings, Barbara Munn (Clarence), Joan Peterson (Reginald), Ross Cowie and Neil Cowie.

He is survived by: his parent Irene Cowie (Astle); his sons, Ricky Cowie (Susan), Troy Cowie (Connie) and Adam Cowie (Crystal); his stepdaughter Cheryl Irving; his grandchildren, Ashley, Meghan, Morgan, Jarod, Jamie, Brenden, Rayna, Lucas and Andrew; his sisters, Gladys Munn (Laurie) and Rena Neales (Richard); his sisters-in-law, Donna Cowie and Leona Furlotte (Eugene); and his close friends, Ron Paquette and Phalen Cotter. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
