He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Kierstead and Frances Kierstead (Manning); his siblings, Doris McNaughton, Phyllis Dempsey, Audrey Moore, Joan Flanagan and Ralph Kierstead; and his siblings-in-law, Darrell Hunter (late Lorraine), Larry Jollymore and Deanna Woodworth.
He is survived by: his wife Marlene Kierstead (Hunter); his children, James Kierstead (Angela) and Wendy Mitchell (Ross Simmons); his grandchildren, Charles Corey Mitchell, Colin Mitchell (Leona Donnelly) and Emily Kierstead; his great grandchildren, Julia Mitchell and Lily Mitchell; his sister Carolyn Fear (Richard); his siblings-in-law, Fred Woodworth, Bill Jollymore (Vicki), Debbie Jollymore, Judy Jollymore and Sandie Landry (Geordie); and his children, Nancy Durelle (Aldor) and Hilson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
