He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Myles and Jessica Myles (Smith); his daughter Sharon; and his sisters, Donie and Joyce.

He is survived by: his wife Betty; his sons, Kevin (Jill) and Scott; his brother Gary; his grandchildren, Chelsea (Adam), Adam (Landra), Paige, Angie (Mike), Shawn and Ryan; and his great grandchildren, Hudson, Sophie and Wesley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Wes was awarded the prestigious national Roderick Haig-Brown award for his outstanding contribution to the conservation and enhancement of recreational fishing in Canada.
