He was predeceased by: his siblings, Peter, Joseph, John, Ivan, Alfred, Leon and Margaret; and his son Daniel.

He is survived by: his wife Carol; his children, Mark, Jeanette Meredith and Janice Mazerolle (Rejean); his granddaughter Dani Mazerolle; his stepdaughter Shelley; his stepgrandchildren, Jeffery and Jennifer; his sisters, Eva Gautreau and Beverly Newman; and his godchildren, Natasha-Toni and Nickolas. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations in Ernest's memory may be made to the Canadian Kidney Foundation.
