He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Patterson and Caroline Patterson (Batstone); his wife Bea; and his brothers, Hiel (Margaret), Cecil, Ernest and Gerald.

He is survived by: his children, Janet Good (Gary) of Avon Park, FL, Eunice Hodgkins (David) of Cape Traverse, PE, Elaine Gaudreault (Yves) of Sackville, NB, Richard Patterson (Jennifer) of Moncton, NB, David Patterson (Angela) of Moncton, NB and Kevin Patterson (Karen) of Oxford, NS; his grandchildren, Katherine, Kristen (Jonny), Kayla (Tim), Kevin, David (Julie), Clara, Annie, Sadie, Robert, Karissa (Alejo), Patrick, Selina and Daniel; his brother Lawrence Patterson (Wilma); his sister-in-law Shirley Patterson; and his sister Marjorie Harvey (Roy).
