She was predeceased by: her parents, Roy Sobey and Merle Sobey (Harris); and her brother Reginald. She is survived by: her brother Big; her children, Jennifer Ross Makhan (Daniel) of Halifax, NS and Robbie of Gesgapegaig, PQ; her brother Kerry of Maple Glen, NB; her sister-in-law Kathryn "Kathy" Sobey Kaminer (Paul) of North Carolina, USA; her grandchildren, Dustyn Martin-Ross, Hannah Martin-Ross, Sofia, Ava and Alex Makhan; and also Big. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In Joan's memory, donations may be made to the SPCA Miramichi.
