He was predeceased by: his parents, Arlington Johnston and Annie Johnston; his children, Karen and Darrell; and his siblings, Lois, Edna, Eva, Floyd, Robert, Dougal, Harold, John and Eldon.

He is survived by: his wife Adrienne Johnston (MacDonald) of Miramichi; his children, Gail Somers of Miramichi, Donna Barry (Jack) of Ontario, Alice Breau (Mike) of Moncton, Johnny Johnston of Ontario and Ricky Johnston (Vin) of Bay; and his sisters, Norma of Alberta, Audrey of Ontario and Geraldine. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
