He was predeceased by: his parents, Franklin Piercy and Evelyn Piercy of McAdam; his siblings-in-law, Robert Hynes, Roland Hill, Irene Lee and Susan Burchhill Dineen; and his niece Emma Hill.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Dineen; his children, Grace (Tony Hamill), Anna (Gray Shanahan), Jim, Jack (Elizabeth Ryan) and Julia; his sister Janis Hynes (David Macaskill); and his granddaughters, Fiona Shanahan and Alice Hamill. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
