He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Schmitt and Rita Benninger; and his sister Karen "Jill" Lankowski (Ronald). He is survived by: his wife Reta Joan Schmitt; his son Andrew (Sylvia Marinovic); his granddaughters, Magdalena and Zara; his stepson Jonathan Lloyd; and his aunt Doris Finn. He is also survived by several nieces, cousins and extended family.
