He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles McWhirter and Constance McWhirter (Hatfield); his wife Betty Anne; and his half-brothers, Murlin (Greta) and Harvey McWhirter (Audrey).
He is survived by: his sons, Jamie McWhirter of Amherst and Evan McWhirter; his grandson Easton McWhirter of Amherst; and his siblings, Ted (Tanya Haynes), Greta Patterson (Ellsworth), Reginald Holland (Wendy), Patsy (Charles), AB, Reta (George) and California. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
