He was predeceased by: his father Charles Frederick; and his wife Betty Jane (Monteith). He is survived by: his children, Ellen Kee (Robert), Rosalie Connell (John), Jean Simonds (Ronald), James Smart (Melinda), John Smart (Paula), Blair Smart (Lori) and Fourteen; and his brother Arnold Smart (Louise). He is also survived by Fourteen Grandchildren, Four Great Grandchildren.
