He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Art Peabody and Adah Peabody; his wife Diane; his children, Karen, Hazen and Clay; his granddaughter Kailie; his siblings, Stephen, Graham, Syd and Louise Bell (Andy); and his daughter-in-law Debi. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
Don was a board member of the Sports Wall of Fame for Woodstock, NB Safety Council, received the award for the safety person of the year from Atlantic provinces trucking association, certificate of appreciation for significant contributions to the development and growth of the transportation programs at the NBCC, Woodstock, Worked with Slammers hockey team for many years.
