She was predeceased by: her parent Hayden Melvin; her children, Wayne Peterson and Makesha Steeves; her siblings, Dalta Clark (Merrill) and Lorne Melvin (Brenda); and her stepfather Alban Page.

She is survived by: her parent Beatrice Melvin; her husband Robert Peterson of Saint Thomas; her daughters, Debby Steeves (Dale) of Okotoks, AB and Sherri Limani (Norton) of Saint Thomas; her grandchildren, Aaron Steeves, Nadia Limani, Jacob Limani and Zain Limani; and her great grandchildren, Meg Steeves and Adrianna Steeves. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
