He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond J. Bates and Flora G. Bates (Morrell); and his brother-in-law Edmund. He is survived by: his wife Jean Bates (Howland); his children, Lori G. McAllister (Chris) of Saint John, NB and Raymond E. Bates (Michele) of Cranbrook, BC; his grandchildren, Alex and Kara McAllister; his great grandchild Nova McAllister; and his sisters, Shirley Orgar (Bill) of Simcoe, ON and Vera McDermott of Saint John, NB.
