He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Briggs and Mamie Briggs (Yoemans); and his siblings, Anne Briggs and Keith Briggs. He is survived by: his wife Linda Briggs (Ward); his children, Dr. Anne Senechal (Michel) of Grand Falls, NB, Julia Briggs (Darren MacDonald) of Halifax, NS, Richard Briggs (Nita) of Ossipee, NH and Daniel Briggs (Nina) of Aiken, SC; his sister Ruth Roy of Port Hope, ON; and his close friends, Blair, Gail DeGrace, Kelly and Alan Briggs.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Plaster Rock Public School Library and Donald Fraser Memorial Breakfast School Program.
