The passing of John F. McElhinney of Grand Bay-Westfield, New Brunswick leaves a void in the hearts of many, as we bid farewell to a loving soul who departed on February 15, 2025 at the age of 95. He was predeceased by: his parents, John McElhinney and Hazel McElhinney; his wife Audrey; his siblings, Russell McElhinney, Leverett McElhinney (Elizabeth), Lillian MacDonald (Mac), Bertha McDade (Frank), Beatrice Bird (Bud), Fred McElhinney, Mary Trecartin (Perley), Iva Dow, Ruby Kimball (Clarence), Edna Dickinson (Robert) and Irene DeLong (Junior); and his brothers-in-law, Reid McNally and William Michaud.
He is survived by: his children, David McElhinney (Carolyn) of Grand Bay and Cheryl Porter (Mark) of Lower Greenwich; his grandchildren, Jonathan McElhinney (Mel), Joel McElhinney, Joy Pusey (Dan), Jordan McElhinney (Katrina) and Nicolas Porter (Janaine); his great grandchildren, Josiah McElhinney, Kathryn McElhinney, Karise Pusey, Grace Pusey, Aydin Pusey, Melisa Pusey, Isaiah McElhinney, Faith McElhinney, Eliana McElhinney and Arwen Porter; his siblings, Robert McElhinney (Marilyn), Sarah McNally and Glenna Michaud; his brother-in-law Ralph Dow; and also, John, Audrey, Shane and Shanice. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Britton Funeral Home (2 High St, Hartland, NB E7P2L2). A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
