He was predeceased by: his parents, Oris Brooks and Ida Brooks (Smith) of Sussex. He is survived by: his wife Freda Brooks; his daughters, Cathy Hoffman (Stephen) of Pennsylvania and Karen Taylor (Douglas) of Fredericton; his grandchildren, Laura Hoffman (Adam Luchkiw), Jessica Duncan (Kevin Boucher), Sarah Hoffman and Adam Duncan; his great grandchild Rylie Boyer; his brother Jack Brooks (Pat) of Baxter's Corner; and also Barbara Williams (Claude) of Sussex. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
