He was predeceased by: his parents, Beulah Tapley and Hughlett Smith; his brothers, Aubrey and Ashael; and his brother-in-law Al Main.
He is survived by: his wife Terry; his children, Peter (Sue), David (Maureen), Jamey (Betsy) and Ann (Christian); his grandchildren, Tim, Jamey, Anna, Gabby, Jonas, Eli, Seamus, Sydney, Eric and Jacqui; his siblings, Muriel, Sharpe (Betty) and Glad (Cathy); and his sisters-in-law, Jean and Ruth. He is also survived by Dad and Mum.
For those considering a donation, Vern's favourite charities were the Fredericton Greener Village, the Fredericton Homeless Shelters, and the Pine Grove Foundation.
