He was predeceased by: his wife Grace Catherine Benson; and his siblings, Vernice Wilcox (Prescott), Allison Benson (Lois) and Rodney Benson. He is survived by: his sisters, Charlotte Frost (Teddy), N. B., Jacqueline Benson (Tiny), Bonny Gaskill (Eben) and Florena Daggett Grand Manan (Brock Sr.); his niece Shelley Griffin (John); his children, Melvin L. (Beth) and Fenton G. Benson; his grandson Matthew James (Melanie); and his great grandchild Madelynn Belle (Justin Daniel Benson).
