He was predeceased by: his parents, Bertram Alexander and Effie Eldora Targett (Parker); and his wife Nelda Mae (Bird). He is survived by: his children, Michael Targett (Joan) and Debbie Roy (Marc); his grandchildren, Tricia Targett-Kennard (Cliff), Janelle Targett-Gilchrest (Ian), Tanya Targett (Brian), Matthew Roy, Natalie Guillemain (Eddy), Sean Targett (Allison) and Jason Targett (Trinette); his great grandchildren, Ben Roy, Beau Canard, Chase Canard, Thatcher Gilcrest, Elena Guillemain, Leo Targett, Elliot Targett, Olive Targett and Lily Targett; his children, Nancy Jean Targett and David Ronald Targett (Donna Lynn Gillis); and his siblings, Wilbert Targett and Della Mills (Stan).

Ron spent the last few years of his life at Shannex, first in assisted living at Brunswick Hall, then full nursing care at Frederick Hall due, to his declining health, related to Parkinson's disease.
