He was predeceased by: his parents, Milton Simmonds and Edna Simmonds (Burns); his brothers, Geoffrey, Clifford and Alan; and his former wife Pauline (Perry).

He is survived by: his wife Mary Ogilvie; his children, Paul (Linda Mayhew), Michael (Steve Wilson), Kelli (Jamie Eddy), Tara (Clark Richards), Andrea (Dinesh Samarasekera) and Faye (Derrick Zamzow); and his brother Bill (Kathy). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
