He was predeceased by: his parents, Healey Wilson and Margaret Wilson (McWaid); his former wife Deborah Wilson (Davis); and his brother John "Ted" Wilson. He is survived by: his children, Vern Wilson, Melissa Wilson, Andy Wilson (Jennifer), Chris Warren (Michelle) and Benjamin Warren; his grandchildren, Jack, Wyatt and Paxton; and his siblings, Katherine Gaudett (Danny), Carolyn Norcott, Joan Wilson, Pat Hayes (Paul Marler), Sharon Kelly (Brent), Mary Green (Gary), Norah Wilson (Ian), Irvine Wilson (Donna) and Jim Wilson (Nellie). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
