He was predeceased by: his parents, Balfour Porter and Rebecca Porter (Ferguson); his stepfather Donald Graham; and his sister Marguerite Rushbrook (late John). He is survived by: his wife Vena Porter (Clark); his daughters, Carlene Stairs (Peter), Temperance Vale and Gail Schnier (Brian); his grandchildren, Curtis Stairs (Heather), Denise Stairs and Jennifer Schnier (Brian); his great grandchildren, Jenayah, Kyle and Dawson; his brother-in-law Wayne Clark (Barbara); and also Gail. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
