He was predeceased by: his parents, John MacKinnon and Mary MacKinnon (Harvey); his wife Shirley; his siblings, Mavis Mazerall, Jean Hood, Pearl Green, Shirley MacDonald, Willie, Wendell, Dick and Clifford; and his son-in-law Mike Estey.

He is survived by: his children, Jim MacKinnon (Tammy), Kevin MacKinnon, Gail Estey, Mary Lee Delong (Clifton) and Jodi Hood (Marty); his grandchildren, Jesse, Kalene and Rhiley; his great grandchildren, Sandy and Serenity; his great great grandchild Storm; his stepgranddaughters, Lindsay, Candice and Kendra; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Yasmine, Willow, Oakley, Kian, Spencer and Soren; and his siblings, June Elliott (Fred) and Chub MacKinnon (Diane). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
