He was predeceased by: his parents, David Saunders and Lilianne Saunders (Chase); and his siblings, Percy, Miles, Gerald, Thelma, Byron, Della, Madeline, Osborne and Beulah.

He is survived by: his wife Irene Saunders (Richard); his children, John Saunders (late Debbie), Cindy Saunders, Geraldine Charters (Raymond), Gerald Saunders (Lyn) and Donald Saunders; his nephew Billy Saunders; and his niece Brenda Richard. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews.
