Ian Murray MacDonald Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Ian Murray MacDonald (Fredericton, New Brunswick), born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, who passed away on January 7, 2025 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert MacDonald and Katherine MacDonald; and his wife Jane Newton MacDonald. He is survived by: his children, Ian Andrew and Jennifer Ellen; his daughter-in-law Circe Moss; his grandchild Atlas Phoebe Sage; his siblings, Sharon MacDonald, Carol Hazelden (Russell) and Edward MacDonald (Jane Henson); and his siblings-in-law, Jim Newton (Audrey), Dexter Newton (Mary Kay), Charlie Newton (Ellen) and William Plaskett. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the McAdam's Funeral Home (160 York St, Fredericton, NB E3B3N7).
For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, to honour Ian's memory, donations may be made to the Dr. Ian MacDonald Scholarship at UNB, the Dalhousie Medical Class of 1972 Global Health Education Bursary, or Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation.
