He is survived by: his wife Charlotte (Gauvin); his children, Amanda and Alex; his parents, Alfred Brown and Leona Brown; his sister Andrea Kohn (Elliot); and his nieces and nephews, Samantha, Molly, Stéphane (Lynn), Janique, Monica (Pascal), Julien (Marie), Samuel and Josée.

In lieu of flowers donations in Iaan's memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick or the ALS Society of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
