She was predeceased by: her parents, Govindrao Deshpande and Maltibai Deshpande (Godubai). She is survived by: her spouse Dr. Arun Valsangkar of Fredericton; her children, A. Neil Valsangkar (Heather) and Dr. Monica Valsangkar-Smyth (Jeff); her grandchildren, Nathan (Pauline), Nicholas, Samir Valsangkar, Priya, Rohan and Leela Smyth; and her siblings, Jayant, Vijay Deshpande (Lalitha) and Rohini Katkar. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
