He was predeceased by: his parents, Foster Gates and Beatrice Gates (Rockwell); his siblings, Hope Chickoski, Colin Gates, Vaughn and Ronnie Russell; his stepmother Joyce Gates; and his parents-in-law, Everett, Louise and Barton.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra (Barton); his daughter Stacey (Dan Pratt); his grandchildren, Kira Bowie, Saint John, Tyler Bowie and Chris Pratt; his sisters, Charlotte (David), Kathy (Cyril) of New Ross, N. S. and Michelle (Blaine) of Timberlea, N. S.; and his sister-in-law Debbie of Lincoln, N. B.. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family have requested that those attending the funeral service please wear a mask.
