He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Smith and Amy Smith (Hearne); his nephew Leary Dean Moore; his mother-in-law Iris MacDonald; and his brothers-in-law, Ira McFarlane and Elmo MacDonald.
He is survived by: his wife Ann; his children, Laureen Smith (Andrew), Karen Robertson (Ian) and Brent (Kathy); his grandchildren, Adam, Ellery Smith, Hannah, Ewan Robertson, Joshua, Holly and Mary Smith; his sisters, Joan Moore (Dennis) and Norma McFarlane (Ira); and his sisters-in-law, Marilyn Wishart (John), Sheryl Darrow (David) and Leah MacDonald (Elmo). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
