He was predeceased by: his parents, Doris and Arthur; and his wife Joyce. He is survived by: his children, Jane (Douglas Vipond) of Fredericton and Richard (Melinda Upshur) of Toronto; and his grandsons, Nick, Sam Vipond, Alex and Dylan Bowden.
