He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom Read and Dionisha Read (Poirier); his brother Tom Read (Susan) of Dieppe; his mother-in-law Ellen MacEachern; and his brother-in-law Brian Gardner.
He is survived by: his wife Helen (MacEachern); his grandsons, Wesley and Andrew O'Donnell; his siblings, Sheila Coleman (Jack) of Sydney, NS, Darrell (Barb) of Sydney, NS, Paula Gardner of Sydney, NS, Rhonda Smith (Barry) of Sydney, NS, Bill (Karen) of Saskatoon and Debbie MacArthur (Alan) of Edmonton; and his parents-in-law, John MacEachern, Alex MacEachern, Don MacEachern (Sylvia), Mervyn MacEachern, Evelyn Green (Fred) and Edmund MacEachern (Colleen) of Sydney, NS. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
