He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Doherty and Kathleen Doherty (Seymour); his son Trevor; his siblings, Claude Doherty and Shirley Norris; and his brother-in-law Eldon Manuel.

He is survived by: his children, Rhonda Pelkey (Jeffrey) and Troy Doherty; his grandchildren, Chad DeLong, Adam DeLong (Krystle) and Breanna DeLong; his great grandchildren, Hazen and Grady DeLong; his sister Peggy Manuel; and his sister-in-law Vera Doherty. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
