He was predeceased by: his father Ira Hoar; his wife Annie Hoar (Peterson); and his siblings, Arnold Hoar, Willa Tracy (Vincent) and Marjorie Gibson (Henry).

He is survived by: his children, Candace Gibson of Toronto, ON and Paul Kelly (Cindy) of Oshawa, ON; his stepchildren, Harold Moore (Sandra) of Fredericton, NB and Kathy Moore of Montmartre, SK; his granddaughter Shannon Stagg (Tyler) of Oshawa, ON; his stepgrandchildren, Brian Moore (Laura) of North Vancouver, BC and Deborah Moore of New Market, ON; his great grandchildren, Landon, Ashton Stagg, Taylor and Devin Moore; and his sister-in-law Edie Hoar of Boundary Creek, NB. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
