He was predeceased by: his spouse Jeannette Allain; and his parents, Joseph Després and Judith Després (Saulnier). He is survived by: his daughters, Chantale Després (Alex Valery) of Montreal and Natasha Després (Kalyn Galloway) of Moncton; his grandchildren, Maëlle and Zève; and his siblings, Viola Collette (Emery), Stella Savoie (Jean), Elva McFadden (Jimmy), Geraldine Robichaud (Donald Richard), Hervé (late Pauline) of Bouctouche and Roger of Bouctouche. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In Laurie's memory a donation can be made to the CHU Dumont Foundation, Oncology department.
