He was predeceased by: his parents, Freeman McDermott and Lois McDermott (Ryan). He is survived by: his children, Jessica McDermott (Daniel) of New Zealand and Cody McDermott (Lauren) of Sudbury, ON; his sisters, Sue Ellen Welman (Wayne) of Smiths Corner and Crystal Albert (Roger) of Saint John; and his niece Shelby (Glen). He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Bass River Ball Field, the Playground or charity of the donor's choice.
