He was predeceased by: his parents, Isaac Thériault and Rita Thériault (Guignard). He is survived by: his wife Carmel (Fenelon); his children, Sonia (Sheldon), Caroline (Mike) and René (Manon); his grandchildren, Seth, Samuel, Claire, Lilly and Isaac; his siblings, Elphège, Gisèle (Guy), Pierrette (Zoël), Fernande and Bertrande; his goddaughter Zoé; and his nephew Nick. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

As expressions of sympathy, in Gélas' memory donations can be made to the IWK Childrens Hospital or Autism Resources Miramichi.
