He was predeceased by: his daughter Karen; his brother Nick; his cousins, Anna Fast and John van Kampen; and his parents, Cornelius and Helene.
He is survived by: his wife Marlene; his son Carl; his daughter-in-law Louisa; his granddaughters, Zoe and Alexandra; his cousins, Peter and Unruh; and his children, John, Peter and Anni.
