It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Geraldine Mary Jarvis (Winnipeg, Manitoba), who passed away on September 28, 2024, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. She is survived by: her close friend George Jarvis. She is also survived by her two daughters, two sons, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, a donation could be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 9Z9.

“I met Geri and George while living on Lorette Avenue ('85-2005ish), when I became part of Neighbourhood Watch and Block Parents. They soon recruited me to put my name forward as part of the Fort Rouge Revitalization Committee. As Wanda pointed out, it was very difficult to say 'no' when being recruited by Geri. However, I've never had any regrets related to those recruitments. learned a tremendous amount and still run into people I met through those experiences. Geri will be missed.”

She was devoted to community safety and has been the driving force behind the Block Parent Program for the last 3 decades. If Geri ever called you up, she was either recruiting event volunteers or asking you to join the Board. She was hard to turn down (I speak from experience). Geri will be greatly missed.
