Gerald Maurice Joseph Schaubroeck Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald Maurice Joseph Schaubroeck, affectionately known as Gerry, who left us on September 19, 2024, at the age of 71. Born on November 13, 1952, Gerry was a devoted father, a trivia aficionado, and a steadfast friend to many.
Gerry is predeceased by his beloved parents, Maurice and Dolores Schaubroeck, as well as his parents-in-law, Louis and Armande Massicotte. He is now reunited with his first wife, Rachel Massicotte, and second wife, Catherine Bowes. Gerry leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by his cherished children, Liane (Eric) and Simon (Jenny), his grandson Hudson, and Catherine's children, Katie (Curt) and Ron (Monique), along with grandsons Felix, Sam, and Charlie. He is also survived by his beloved siblings: Richard (Alix), Marguerite (Albe), Bernadette (Doug), Gilbert (Cecelia), and Albert (Tammy). Additionally, he held a special place in his heart for Rachel's brothers Ray, Gilles (Celine), Paul (Sylvie), and Andre (Fern). Gerry was a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Not only was Gerry an accountant by profession, but he was also a master of fun facts and trivia, always ready to impress with his extensive knowledge of politics, sports, and music. A true sports enthusiast, he could debate any game and cherished cheering on his son Simon at hockey rinks. His passion for discovering new music genres with Liane created countless memorable moments as they explored artists together.
With a heart as big as his sports fandom, Gerry thrived on helping others, dedicating time to care for his parents during their final years. His kindness, gentle soul and generosity touched many lives, and he will be remembered for his unwavering support and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the charity ChezRachel, a cause close to Gerry's heart.
