He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Schmidt and Katherina Schmidt; and his brothers, Peter and Isaac. He is survived by: his wife Tina Klassen; his daughter Esther Black (Martin); his grandchildren, Joshua, Lucas and Thomas; his children, Elaine and Solomon Schmidt; his siblings, Tina Bergen and Neil (Helen Schmidt); and his sisters-in-law, Mary Schmidt (Alberta) and Susan Fehr. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
