He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Porter and Rosie Porter; his significant other Teresa Friesen; and his close friend Wayne Warkentin. He is survived by: his daughter Pam; his brother Ron (Pat); and his cousin Marlyn Fehr (Don). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
